# Signing Up

# Local Account (Email)

This is the classic way to get started!

  • 1. Click the "Login" Button: You’ll find this button on the top right displayed on our homepage in the header bar.
  • 2. Enter Your Details: You'll be asked for:
    • Email Address: Please use a valid email address that you regularly check – we’ll send important updates and download notifications here.
    • Password: Choose a strong password (at least 8 characters long, including a mix of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols) to keep your account secure.
    • Username: Select a unique username. This username will be visible to other users on IndieBuilds.
  • 3. Verify Your Email: After submitting the form, we’ll send a verification email to the address you provided. Click the link in the email to confirm your account and activate it. (Check your spam folder if you don't see it within a few minutes!)

# Google Account

Using your existing Google account streamlines the process.

  • Step 1: Click the "Login" Button: Again, find this button on our homepage.
  • Step 2: Select “Sign up with Google”: You’ll see a button that says “Google”. Click it.
  • Step 3: Sign In to Your Google Account: You'll be redirected to a Google login page. Follow the steps provided there.
  • Step 4: Grant Permissions: Google will ask for permission to allow IndieBuilds access to certain information (Mainly your email and first name – these are needed to create an account). Click "Allow."
  • Step 5: Complete Setup: You’ll be automatically logged in and redirected back to IndieBuilds!

# Microsoft Account

Another quick and secure way to join IndieBuilds is through your Microsoft account.

  • Step 1: Click the "Login" Button: As above, find this button on our homepage.
  • Step 2: Select “Sign up with Microsoft”: You’ll see a button that says “Microsoft”. Click it.
  • Step 3: Sign In to Your Microsoft Account: You'll be redirected to a Microsoft login page. Follow the steps provided there.
  • Step 4: Grant Permissions: Microsoft will ask for permission to allow IndieBuilds access to certain information (Mainly your email and first name – these are needed to create an account). Click "Allow."
  • Step 5: Complete Setup: You’ll be automatically logged in and redirected back to IndieBuilds!

# Email Verification

To ensure account security and prevent unauthorized access, IndieBuild requires email verification during login for all users.

1. New Users (During Account Creation):

  • When you create a new account on IndieBuilds, you will immediately receive an email at the address you provided.
  • This email contains a unique code. Enter the code on the screen to complete verification and sign-up.

2. Users with Verified Email Addresses:

  • If your email address is already verified, you can log in normally using your username/email and password without any verification prompts.
  • This verification is valid for approximatly 60 days. If you have not logged in within 60 days you may be required to verify your email address agian.

3. What to Do If You Don't Receive the Verification Email:

  • Check Your Spam/Junk Folder: The verification email might have been filtered into your spam or junk folder.
  • Verify Your Email Address is Correct: Double-check that you entered your email address correctly during account creation or when prompted for verification.
  • Request Another Verification Email: You can request another verification email by clicking the link to "Resend Verification Email" on the verification page.
  • Contact Support: If you still haven't received the email after trying the above steps, please contact our support team at Contact Us.

5. Security Considerations:

  • Never share your verification code with anyone. This code is unique to your account and should only be used by you.
  • Be wary of phishing emails. Always ensure the email originates from IndieBuilds offical sub-domains (*.indiebuilds.com).
