# Downloading Games

This guide walks you through the process of using the IndieBuilds Desktop application to play all the games you've purchased through the IndieBuilds website.

# Overview of IndieBuilds Desktop

The IndieBuilds Desktop is your central hub for managing your purchases/collected games and demos. It consolidates your library and provides the tools necessary to download, organize, and launch your favorite indie titles directly on your system.

IndieBuilds Desktop serves the following functions:

  • Game Library: An organized view of all the games you own. (We are working hard to make the interface simpler and more feature rich)
  • Download Manager: The dedicated area for managing the acquisition process.
  • Launcher: The interface for starting game sessions.

# Step-by-Step Guide to Downloading a Game

Follow these steps to successfully download and prepare any new game for playing:

# 1: Locating the Game in the Library

  1. Open IndieBuilds Desktop: Launch the application on your system.
  2. Navigate to the Library: On the main screen (Usually the first area of the app), select the "Library" tab if not on it already.
  3. Locate the Title: Browse through your library sidebar to find the specific game you wish to download. The games details will populate and you will be see a menu of options and details about the game.

# 2: Initiating the Download

  1. Select the Game: Click on the game title to open its details page.
  2. Access Download Option: On the game's details screen, locate and select the "Download" button or option. (This initiates the file transfer from IndieBuilds servers to your local machine.)
  3. Confirm Download: A confirmation prompt will appear. Review and accept.

Once the download is complete, the game will automatically be added to your library. To start playing, follow these steps:

  1. Return to the Library: Go back to the main Game Library.
  2. Select Game: Click on the newly downloaded game.
  3. Launch Command: Select the "Launch" button. The Desktop will use the application's built-in configuration to launch the game executable or runtime, putting you directly into the game environment.

  • Internet Connection: Ensure you have a stable and active internet connection, as downloads require a consistent link.
